Nabil Fekir has convinced Lyon to re-open transfer talks with Liverpool after meeting with president Jean Michel Aulas in Russia, according to reports.

Liverpool pulled the plug on a £53million deal before the World Cup after concerns were raised about Fekirs knee and Lyon refused to lower the asking price.

Fekir is still desperate to join Liverpool and told Aulas this over two meetings in Russia during the World Cup, according to the Mirror.

The France international begged Aulas to reconsider and Lyon have now told Fekir they will at least resume talks with Liverpool.

The Reds will not resurrect the deal unless Lyon are willing to restructure the transfer fee or lower the price.

A second opinion on Fekirs knee raises concerns among the Liverpool officials, even thought the midfielder passed a medical.

Liverpool may be interested in coming to the agreement to pay Fekirs transfer fee over a five-year period, in line with the playmakers contract.

Aulas has a reputation as one of the most stubborn negotiators in Europe, but has already begun to soften his stance.

And Lyon are already thinking about replacements for Fekir should he exit for Liverpool.

Lyon will move for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech as Fekirs replacement, but will not do so until the switch to Liverpool is finalised.
