Jurgen Klopp delivers Jordan Henderson fitness update after Liverpool win over Chelsea

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Jordan Hendersons ankle injury which forced him off late on in Liverpools 2-0 win over Chelsea at Anfield is not serious.

The 28-year-old has been in excellent form for club and country over the past few weeks and provided a moment of inspiration for Liverpools breakthrough against Chelsea by assisting Sadio Manes opening goal.

Henderson also registered a goal and assist during Liverpools 3-1 comeback victory over Southampton last weekend and is showing his leadership with some inspired performances from an advanced midfield role.

There was concern, therefore, when he had to be replaced by James Milner 13 minutes from the end of the game, however, Klopp was quick to play down the severity of the problem saying his captain was fine after the final whistle.

He got a knock on his ankle, thats pretty much all. He was fine after the game, Klopp confirmed.

Over the past couple of seasons, Henderson has predominantly been deployed as Liverpools deepest midfielder in front of the back four but in recent games he has been shifted into a box-to-box role with Fabinho assuming the defensive midfield position.
