Director Jon Chu will forever be associated with the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians (2018), but his latest project, Home Before Dark, is a bit different: a true-crime drama about a girl who defies expectations to become an investigative journalist.
And he tells The Straits Times he wanted to make the show because of a visceral fear that his own daughter may some day face the same sexism the character does.
