Norway Votes Not to Boycott Qatar’s World Cup

Norway’s Football Federation (NFF) voted against boycotting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“The Federal Parliament decides that the NFF will not adopt a boycott,” the NFF confirmed in a press release.

The NFF has been under pressure over the past months to boycott the 2022 tournament over accusations of human rights abuses of migrant workers in Doha.

368 delegates voted for a motion rejecting the boycott while 121 were in favour.

In a statement, the NFF said: “Sunday’s extraordinary federal meeting spent many hours considering the Qatar issue. 368 voted in favour and 121 voted against the NFF board’s proposal.”

Qatar has been under spotlight over its human rights record since it was awarded the hosting of the tournament in 2010.
