New York, Europe Brief News – Bruce Willis’ wife expressed “grief and sadness” in an emotional Instagram Reel posted on the actor’s first birthday since revealing his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
“The silver lining or the flip side is that I’m so lucky to feel your warmth and love that is directed to my husband and our family,” Emma Heming Willis captioned the post in part.
“I see your messages, your stories that you share, and all I can say is thank you. Your connection helps me and I hope it helps you in a small way to know that I see you and I deeply understand your journey as well.”
In the video, Emma, 44, explained that she “started the morning by crying” – as fans could see from her “swollen eyes” and “snotty” nose.
“I do have times of sadness, every day, grief every day, and I’m really feeling it today on his birthday.”
Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in February.
This came after he was diagnosed with aphasia, which causes difficulties with speech, last year.
His family said last year that he was giving up acting as the condition was affecting his cognitive abilities.
The actor’s dementia diagnosis affects language as well as behaviour and the ability to plan. There is no cure or intervention that can slow down the progress, so his symptoms will continue to worsen.
