EBN- Several iPhone users have complained about their phones overheating after installing the latest software update, iOS 18.2, which was released by Apple last week.
According to some posts on Reddit , iPhones have been heating up significantly after installing the new update, especially with the use of the Image Playground app to create and edit images with artificial intelligence.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are the most affected by the heat problem, but one user experienced the same problem with his iPhone 15 Pro Max, which other users confirmed, except that the problem here was with the Photos app or FaceTime video calling service.
It is worth noting that a number of users have complained about the recurrence of the heating problem since they installed the beta version of iOS 18.2.
Some users also experienced rapid battery drain while using the AI photo creation and editing service.
Image Playground App
Image Playground is part of the new iOS 18.2 release, and is a tool for designing images via text commands, as part of the artificial intelligence features provided by Apple Intelligence.
This feature works locally on the phone’s memory and processor without the need to connect to the Internet, and thus the hard work is done entirely on the phone itself without relying on or connecting to the company’s servers. Therefore, if the phone’s cooling system does not work as expected, it is directly reflected in the phone’s temperature, as well as its performance and battery life.
Users can design images through many tools within the Image Playground application, as they can write a text command to design the image, or choose a text description from the suggested commands, in addition to the user being able to upload his image at first, to begin modifying and developing it to come up with the expected design.
Users can choose between 3 design styles: Sketch, Animation, and Illustration.
The update also allows designing images within various applications, such as Messages, FreeForm, Keynote, and Pages, and Apple also allows developers to include these capabilities within their applications available through its App Store.
Image Playground can be accessed through a dedicated image creation app or via the messaging app by tapping the (+) button to the left of the text box.
