EBN- Liverpool lost to host Tottenham 1-0 in the first leg of the English Football League Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening.
The match witnessed Tottenham’s Uruguayan international midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur sustaining a serious injury in the seventh minute, which caused him to lose consciousness.
Buntancur was carried off the pitch on a stretcher a few minutes later, appearing to have suffered a head injury, with Tottenham’s manager replacing the Uruguayan with Welshman Brennan Johnson in the 15th minute.
Tottenham later confirmed that Betancur “has regained consciousness and is talking, and is now on his way to hospital for further tests.”
The scond econd leg between Liverpool and Tottenham will be held on Thursday evening, February 6, at Anfield Stadium.
It is noteworthy that the other match in the semi-final witnessed Newcastle’s victory over Arsenal in its home stadium, with two goals to none.
