EBN- French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Saturday that he would provide Ukraine with major financial aid amounting to billions of euros, indicating that the decision could be taken at the next European Union summit.
The March 6 summit is very important. The funding will probably reach hundreds of billions of euros,” he said in an interview with La Tribune newspaper.
The French President pointed out that the aim of this meeting is to strengthen the European Union’s support for Kiev.
The Economist reported that if US support for Kiev stops, Brussels will have to almost double spending to compensate.
European non-stop support
Austrian Acting Chancellor and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said that Europe is helping Ukraine militarily more than the United States.
In the same context, the Wall Street Journal reported that President Donald Trump directed the National Security Council to consider suspending or stopping aid and arms shipments to Ukraine due to his quarrel with Volodymyr Zelensky.
The remarks came after President Trump rebuked Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House when he came to sign an agreement to jointly explore for Ukrainian resources.
The US president demanded that Zelensky agree to a ceasefire and stop criticizing Putin, and Vice President J.D. Vance called Zelensky an “ungrateful agitator” for the Democrats as he began to justify his actions, accuse Russia, and even threaten that the United States would feel the consequences of the conflict, despite being an ocean away. The Ukrainian delegation was asked to leave the White House, without signing the agreement.
During their argument on Friday, Trump accused Zelensky of recklessly endangering global security by refusing to negotiate peace with Russia, warning that he was “gambling with World War III and the deaths of millions.”
He stressed the weakness of Ukraine’s position in the conflict, considering that Zelensky does not have “pressure cards” to dictate to Washington how it should interact with Moscow.
