Varane, the returning Gareth Bale, and the German midfielder, Toni Kroos, were subjected to medical checks in Valdebebas but did join the group in training.

It is not only Varane, as the returning Bale after a one-year loan from Tottenham has one year left on his contract at Santiago Bernabeu. Like the French defender, Bale’s future with Madrid is uncertain.
