Raphael Varane appeared in the preseason training of the Real Madrid, and the Red Devils keep the negotiating with the French defender on the table.
Varane, the returning Gareth Bale, and the German midfielder, Toni Kroos, were subjected to medical checks in Valdebebas but did join the group in training.
Man United manager, Solskjaer, want to sign the Real Madrid centre back, given that the latter’s contract with the merengue expires in June 2022.
The Red Devils started personal negotiation with the French defender, but no talks have been held with the Los Blancos to reach a deal.
The 28-year-old put in more than 300 appearances with Real Madrid in 10 consecutive seasons, helping the team to add 18 titles in the White House.
Now that he has featured for the National Team in Euro 2020, he declined to extend offers for next summer in Spain, looking for an experience in another league, and it could be the Premier League.
The Spanish club already gave up Sergio Ramos, a legendary defender and one of the club legends, who reached a deal with Paris Saint-Germain after 16 seasons in the White House.
The newcomer, David Alaba, expresses his wishes that Varane would remain in Real Madrid.
“Of course, I would love to play with Varane,” said the Austrian centre back, “For many years, he has played excellent football and not just now. He is a wonderful defender and has great qualities.”
As the club seems to prefer the stay of the French centre back, selling Varane would add much to the funds to help reinforce the squad.
On the English side, funds are narrow as they signed Sancho for £72.9 million from Borussia Dortmund.
The Red Devils seek to reach an agreement with the Spanish club so that Varane could be ready for the opening of the Premier League against Leeds United on August 14.
It is not only Varane, as the returning Bale after a one-year loan from Tottenham has one year left on his contract at Santiago Bernabeu. Like the French defender, Bale’s future with Madrid is uncertain.
