Abraham believes that he deserves more of what he gains from the Blues. And his future will be away from Stamford Bridge. The player and the club failed to reach an agreement lately, which opened the door for many clubs to offer.
The 23-year-old is on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs and other European clubs. However, the player rejected all of them except for Roma. The latter’s manager, Jose Mourinho convinced Abraham to arrive in Italy.
Abraham, in turn, has a keen interest in joining the Italian club, and both parties may seal the deal soon.
This week the English player has decided to move and agreed to a five-year contract with La Lupa. The deal seems to offer £40m, which is relatively a low number to the English player.
However, the Blues have already laid a buy-back clause that is worth £75m from 2023 onwards.
90min has been told that there was late interest in recent days from a host of clubs, who still held out hope of landing Abraham before he decided on Rome.
Other than Roma, there are a bunch of offers for the English player but came a bit late. Arsenal, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and West Ham have initiated talks with the player’s agent. Also, some of them talked officially with Chelsea as well.
Nevertheless, all talks went to waste, as Abraham made it clear he wants to join La Lupa.
Abraham’s point to join Roma lies in their keen interest in him. He feels that they want him so bad, valuing the player as much.
Roma will add the English player to their squad as a reinforcement this week. Still, he will be the second English player in Mourinho’s team after Chris Smalling, Man United’s previous defender.
Roma will face Fiorentina in the opening match in Serie A.
