EBN- La Croisette has been the seventh art’s gathering place annually for the past 77 years. The opening of the Cannes festivities took place on Tuesday, May 14.
New films were shown at the renowned Palais des Festivals, and the famous red carpet welcomed the biggest names in Hollywood as well as other celebrities.
However, there were a number of significant threats to this Festival, including the Me Too movement and rumors of a staff strike. During the Cannes Film Festival, a list containing the names of ten directors, producers, and actors was threatened with being leaked.
La Croisette disrupted by forgotten luggage
Furthermore, the Cannes festival was interrupted this Saturday, May 18, for an entirely different reason. It is true that someone left their bag outside the Cannes Palais des Festivals. A security perimeter was thus established close to the Palace. It was a backpack that was abandoned in the square across from the Palais in Square Mérimée. As a precaution, entry to the Palace was barred; however, the bag’s owner arrived to retrieve it prior to the deminers’ arrival.
The Festival started on Sunday, May 19, in a very different way. A very surprising scene has gained a lot of attention: our Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, posed with 69-year-old American actor, producer, and director Kevin Costner.
Rachida Dati poses hand in hand with Kevin Costner
The two personalities were very close because they held hands while facing the cameras, in addition to posing side by side. But this sequence is not the result of coincidence. In fact, the politician gave the Bodyguard actor the Order of Arts and Letters medal.
This transmission was organized at the Salon des Ambassadeurs, this Sunday, May 19, at the Palais des Festivals. Both looked very chic for the occasion. The politician’s wife wore a sleek black outfit, while Kevin Costner opted for a white ensemble. Matchy matchy.
