EBN- The results of a study conducted by the Russian research center Kaspersky showed that 31% of parents admit to having disagreements with their children due to their activity on the Internet , while 36% of them reported that they do not face any disagreements, as long as their children’s activity on the Internet does not lead to serious problems.
27% of the study participants confirmed that they had suffered financial losses as a result of their children’s actions on the Internet, while 19% of them reported that their children’s devices had been infected with viruses.
Many parents attributed the conflicts to the time children spend on their electronic devices, as this point constituted 66% of cases, while the type of content they watch was the cause of these conflicts in 29% of these conflicts, and a number of parents indicated that useless online chatting caused 27% of these problems.
Disagreements usually start from misunderstandings between parents and children, as parents find it difficult to keep up with the rapid developments in the digital world, while children underestimate cyber dangers and use the Internet without sufficient awareness of the risks. Therefore, experts advise the need to constantly communicate with children and set clear limits on their online activities, in addition to teaching them the basics of digital safety and the importance of caution while browsing.
To mitigate these conflicts and protect children from digital risks, the report urges parents to learn more about cybersecurity for children, and to use reliable security solutions that help protect children from offensive content and ensure the safety of their digital activity.
