Newfoundland, Europe Brief News – At least seven Fishermen died and 11 others were still missing after a fishing vessel from Spain went down in rough seas off Eastern Canada on Tuesday.
The officials come up with the threat that poor weather can increasingly reduce the chances of finding more survivors.
As per the several Reports, there were 24 members aboard the trawler when it sank to 463 kilometres east of Newfoundland. The rescuers are on duty to look for survivors.
Canada’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRRC) said “ Seven bodies had been recovered and three survivors rescued who were plucked from a life raft in the Atlantic”.
The Centre’s Halifax operation tweeted “Regrettably, JRCC Hfx can confirm that an additional 3 dead bodies have been recovered from the sunken fishing vessel”.
Poor Weather conditions , fierce winds and reduced visibility are some of the challenges that the rescuers team is facing in the search for more survivors. As the time passes, it is becoming even more difficult to save anyone.
On the other side, the Spanish transport ministry has launched a report that confirmed the identity of the crew members. Out of 24 crew members aboard the trawler , 16 were Spanish nationals, five Peruvians and three Ghananians.
The Fishing Vessel also known as ‘The Villa de Pitanxo’ is mainly based at a port in Galicia. The fishing vessel transmits two distress calls at 5:24 am (0424 GMT).
Maica Larriba, a representative of Spain’s Central government in the Galicia region said “ In one, there were just three survivors who were in a state of hypothermic shock because the temperature of water is horrible, very low”.
Canadian Rescuers are using helicopters, a military plane and various boats to find the missing members of the crew.
Depressed Day

Pedro Sanchez , Spanish Prime Minister said “ We are following with concern the search and rescue operation for the crew of the Galician ship that sank in the waters of Newfoundland”.
