California, Europe Brief News – Elon Musk confirmed that he is immensely confident that his new SpaceX starship is being built for the trip to the moon and mars. The new starship will land on earth orbit for the very first time this year.
The billionaire SpaceX founder Elon Musk addressed a throng of news media and supporters at his company’s starbase facility in boca chica, texas.
His company showed an extensive presentation that was mixed with high-tech pep rally with big screen animation and a question/answer session.
High tech pep rally came into existence exactly nine months after California based company spacex achieved the very first successful launch and touchdown of a starship prototype.
Elon Musk accepted the challenges that SpaceX had to face in manufacturing and maintaining the “Raptor” engines for its super heavy rocket.
For its raptor 2 engine, a reusable next generation launch booster manufactured in a way to carry the starship spacecraft to orbit.
He also mentioned the potential problems with the thruster chamber engines melting from the intense heat.
But he promised by saying “ we are very close to solving that and expected to scale up production to about seven and eight of the engines a week by next month and produce a new starship and a booster every month by year’s end”.
Environmental review
The future of the Boca chica test-flight and production facility close to the southern gulf coast is now under the radar in an environment assessment by the federal aviation administration.
The FAA will take a call in the coming week to decide whether the planned build-out poses a huge environmental impact to the area and have undergone a detailed study before giving a go ahead to operations at boca chica.
Once the FAA is done with their detailed study, they will go further and hand them over a licence to go on with the operations.
When Elon Musk was asked about the FAA status review, he said “ We do not have hundreds of insights into where things stand with the FAA but we have gotten sort of rough indication there may be an approval in march and that’s all we know”. Spacex is aiming to shoot a 2023 launch and calling it a world’s first lunar mission.
