Kyiv, Europe Brief News – The United States has asked their embassy staff to evacuate from Ukraine on Saturday citing the Russian military buildup at the border.
As per recent reports, Washington has also decided to withdraw its staff members from the Organisation for security and cooperation in Ukraine.
Tensions over the borders between Ukraine and Russia have been intensifying in the last few weeks. Ukraine is concerned that Russia may invade soon but Russia refused to have such plans.
The embassy said “Today, the @StateDept ordered non-emergency U.S. employees at the embassy to depart due to continued reports of a Russian military build-up on the border of Ukraine, indicating potential for significant military action”.
The dept also mentioned that the core embassy staff and their ukrainian colleagues can stay there working in the absence of their diplomatic staff.
The United States has sent a clear cut message to its citizens and asked them to leave the country immediately, mentioning that they will not send army help to evacuate them once the conflict erupts.
Along with the United States, a lot of other countries have issued a notification for their citizens to leave Ukraine before anything happens. It will get difficult for them once Russia invades Ukraine.
The United States also decided to withdraw its staff from the OSCE in Ukraine with immediate effect. The United States is trying to withdraw every one of their members to keep them safe from the potential battlefield.
The function of OSCE is to perform operations in Ukraine including a Russian-backed civilian monitoring mission in the Russian-backed separatist republic where 14,000 people were killed in a war.
Joe Biden stance on Russia-ukraine rising tension
President Joe Biden has shown his concern, saying that invasion from Russia over Ukraine may be coming. He even warned Russia to face disaster if they attack Ukraine.
Joe Biden further added “If they actually do what they are capable of doing with the forces amassed on the border, it is going to be bad for Russia, our allies and partners are ready to impose severe costs and significant harm on russia and Russian economy”
The US and its allies have tussled with Moscow over Ukraine because of its strategic position between Russia and Europe.
Over time Ukraine has adapted the western style of government while Russia is in the hands of authoritarian president Vladmir putin.
