San Francisco, Europe Brief News – In September last year, Twitter allowed Bitcoin payments Through its tipping jar. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency payment option available on twitter platform.
On Wednesday, Twitter announced the addition of Ethereum (world’s second largest cryptocurrency) in its existing tipping options.
Twitter has provided its users a facility to just receive ETH tips by simply enabling the platform’s tipping feature. After enabling the tipping feature, users can add an Etherum address to a dedicated section of their profile.
Users can transfer their Bitcoin tips using lightning network which uses Strike App to share payments. Twitter is yet to provide further details on tipping in ETH.
For the time being, Tips are only available for IOS and Android users and users have a right to keep the 100% tip that they receive.
Twitter said “ Tips can be used to show support, appreciation, help out or reward anyone users want from emerging creators and journalists to twitter space hosts and more”.
Twitter also highlighted the other payment services which include Cash App, GoFundMe , Patreon, Wealthsimple and Venmo.
Ethereum Crucial Addition To Twitter’s Tipping Jar
Twitter Spokesperson said “Digital currencies operate without global barriers. We are excited to incorporate Ethereum in addition to Bitcoin payment in tips, enabling more people to participate in the digital economy with as little friction as possible”.
There is one thing that users need to know: Twitter’s ETH does not support ENS addresses. They just send lengthy , inapt alphanumeric ones.
When you share an ETH tip, you are not actually tipping through twitter. Instead, clicking on a user’s ETH tip option just copies their address. That way you are able to navigate to your crypto wallet and share a user an ETH tip.
This feature is actually just a friendly way of sending your wallet address with other users to get benefit in future.
In recent times, Twitter launched a feature that enables twitter blue users to upload non-fungible tokens or NFT’s as their profile pictures. This feature is temporarily available for only IOS users.
