Moscow, Europe Brief News – Kremlin official envoy of President Vladimir Putin quits over Ukraine war and has left Russia. He seems to have no intention to return. The Kremlin has confirmed that Anatoly Chubais has resigned. He was one of the major architects of Boris Yeltsin’s economic reforms during the 1990s. Chubais was Putin’s boss in the president’s first Kremlin job.
He was responsible for taking care of the senior business and political jobs under Putin. Anatoly has been serving as Kremlin’s special envoy to international organizations. He hung up the phone when he was contacted by Reuters.
The sources did not reveal where he was. U.S. President Joe Biden flew to Europe on Wednesday to deal with an emergency regarding the NATO summit on Ukraine. Four weeks have gone into the war and has driven a quarter of Ukraine’s 44 million people to run away from their homes. Russia has failed to capture any major Ukrainian city.
Kremlin Official Quits In Protest Over Ukraine War
Russian forces have taken heavy losses, and have been frozen in place for at least a week. On most fronts, they have been facing supply problems. The fierce resistance has turned to siege tactics and bombardment of cities. This has caused massive destruction and has caused the deaths of many civilians. Moscow says that they aim to disarm its neighbor. They are denying targeting civilians.
The journalists have been banned to report from inside the Ukrainian-held parts of the city. The Ukrainian officials stated that Russia has bombed a theatre and an art school. They used bomb shelters, and have buried hundreds of people alive. Russia has denied targeting those buildings.
The leaders will be expected to roll out additional sanctions against Russia. Sources have revealed that after Kremlin official quitting on the war the U.S. package would include all the measures that are targeting Russian members of the parliament. The US President Biden plans to visit Poland where most of the Ukraine refugees are staying. More than 3.6 million refugees from Ukraine have fled to Poland and have taken the main route for Western supplies of weapons to Ukraine.
This is a sign of Moscow’s further isolation. Poland has announced that it has expelled the 45 Russian diplomats and has been accused of being undercover spies. Many other eastern European countries have revealed that they are making similar moves in recent days. They might not take steps on such a large scale. Russia has refused to accept all the accusations.
