Brussels, Europe Brief News – Jens Stoltenberg is NATO’s general secretary and he plans to extend his term for one year. It doesn’t seem he wants to step away from the head of alliance due to war in Ukraine. His term will expire on October 1st while he is due to take a post as the central bank Governor in Norway. He arrived at a NATO summit in Brussels and asked whether will stay at NATO or not. Stoltenberg revealed that he will leave the decision to 30 leaders.
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, things are not going very smoothly. A month ago Moscow calls this situation a ‘special operation’. It has triggered the latest refugee crisis within Europe since World War Two. However, this is the time for Western Nations to rethink fundamentally on the defense policy.
Jen Stoltenberg is an economist and a former leader from the Labor Party of Norway. He has been the Norwegian Prime Minister from 2000-to 2005. However, in the following year, he became the NATO chief. If this isn’t enough he is finance and energy minister. He will soon take up the job of becoming the deputy Central Bank Chief. A Central Bank governor must take care of the Norway Sovereign wealth fund. It has the world’s largest assets of around $1.4 billion.
Stoltenberg Feels Honored By The Decision Of NATO
Jen Stoltenberg feels honored by the decision of NATO leaders. They have decided to extend his term as the Secretary-General till 30th September 2023. Due to Russia-Ukraine War, they are facing a big security crisis that is challenging to handle. He believes in staying united and keep up the alliance strong.
