California, Europe Brief News – Former astronaut Scott Kelly, who spent almost a year on the International Space Station, has recently introduced space-themed NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens). He has established a series of NFTs on Ethereum to help Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
To commemorate the International Day of Human Space Flight, Kelly has made 3,300 generative art pieces available on the OpenSea marketplace.
Each photograph depicts Kelly in a unique setting, such as floating in space, dressed as a gorilla, or draped in the Ukrainian flag’s colors.
“I trust technology. “I was interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain for a few years, but not early enough,” Kelly told decrypt. “I simply see this as another avenue to explore. Exploring the metaverse and virtual worlds.”
Space-themed NFTs collection
Kelly, a four-time NASA astronaut and former US Navy captain, said his passion for art and photography inspired his collection. NFT. He issued a book of his space images in 2018, “Ready to Launch,” among other publications.
He described the NFT works as digital depictions of my dreams and ideas while in space. As well as my journeys around Earth and the sections of the world I viewed up close.
Kelly will organize three auctions for one-time NFT items containing actual space gear and antiquities. 3 ETH (or $9,100) for an NFT with one of Kelly’s spacesuits; 2 ETH (or $6,000) for an NFT with one of her commando helmets.
The earnings will go to Global Empowerment Mission, a non-profit group aiding Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion. Kelly has over five million followers on Twitter and is an excellent fan of Ukraine. The concept was created with Kelly by NFT Orange Comet, whose co-founders include Gloria Estefan and former NFL great Kurt Warner.
Kelly’s rising interest in the metaverse
When asked what fascinates him about NFTs, Kelly mentioned the prospect of demonstrating ownership of digital material and the metaverse’s possible future.
“It’s sort of a next stage for digital media and technology,” Kelly said of the NFts. “It’s a fun business. I’m into the metaverse. I think it’ll be the next frontier, like the internet, and I’m excited to participate.”
Kelly said that he would want to make more NFT releases in the future, including 3D avatars for usage in the metaverse’s outer space regions.
According to Kelly, the space atmosphere would be ideal for some 3D imagery that would make the NFT owner feel linked to the space program – and maybe in space. “I see a lot of potentials.”
Along with NFTs and the metaverse, Kelly is also interested in the potential of using blockchain networks to authenticate news sources. He has also confirmed that he owns several cryptocurrencies and isn’t bothered by the Crypto doubters attacking his NFT initiatives. He says his initiative benefits a worthy purpose, and he expects widespread acceptance of the technology soon.
