London, Europe Brief News – Burnley is in 18th place in the Premier League standings, four points from relegation. In the last seven league games, they have only won one game. Their coach Sean Dyche led Burnley to two promotions from the Championship and a seventh-place finish in the Premier League, qualifying for the Europa League football.
Sean Dyche’s Decade Over after Burnley Defeat
After ten years of fighting relegation, Sean Dyche has been fired as Burnley’s manager. Burnley is 18th, four points from safety. Only one of their past seven Premier League games has ended in a victory, a 2-0 loss to Norwich on Sunday.
“If you had given him a proper budget, you would never have had to worry about being relegated,” tweeted Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher.
Added Gary Neville of Sky Sports: “Sean Dyche has done one of the best things in Premier League history. He had a bantamweight budget yet hit heavyweights for years.”
After almost a decade at Burnley, Dyche is no longer the Premier League’s longest-serving boss. In September 2012, he joined the England U21 coaching staff and took over at Burnley from Eddie Howe in October.
Burnley was promoted from the Championship twice under the 50-year-old. He led Burnley to seventh position in the Premier League after signing a new four-year agreement in September. Burnley qualified for the Europa League for the first time in 51 years and finished sixth in 1974.
“First, we would like to congratulate Sean and his colleagues for their successes at the Club over the previous decade,” stated Chairman Alan Pace.
Dyche leaves as a legend
When Sean Dyche arrived at Turf Moor in October 2012, his team was 14th in the Championship, surrendering the most goals. After a temporary return to the second division, he led the team to promote the Premier League in 2014 and 2016.
Dyche was Burnley’s third manager in two years, after Brian Laws and Eddie Howe, but all that turmoil eventually faded away, with the club becoming a picture of stability. Dyche became the Premier League’s longest-serving manager when Burnley finished 10th and Howe was relegated with Bournemouth.
His overall work for the club is establishing their position in the top flight on a budget significantly less than their competitors and building an identity on and off the field that fans will treasure the most.
Managers Praise Dyche’s Work
According to several managers, Sean Dyche has done an outstanding job. Some say that every season, coming into the Premier League with probably a bottom three or bottom four budget and yet being able to fight and survive and earn at least a couple of top 10 positions is a tremendous, extraordinary job.
Graham Potter, Brighton manager, says, “Surprising I pity a coworker that I admire. Of course, losing a job is never pleasant, but it happens in football. I doubt he’ll be out of employment long since he was terrific at Burnley.
