Mike Tyson
Tyson, wearing a brace on his right knee, did not pose much of a challenge after being swayed by some left punches from Paul in the third round but did enough defensively to avoid any serious damage.
Tyson admitted after the fight that he was fighting despite his leg injury, saying: “Yes, but I can’t use that as an excuse… If I did that, I wouldn’t be here.”
The boxing legend added: “I knew he was a good fighter, he was ready and I came to fight. I didn’t prove anything to anyone but only to myself. I’m not one of those guys who live to please the world. I’m just happy with what I can do.”
Tyson, one of the most feared heavyweight champions of all time during his heyday in the late 1980s and early 1990s, had his first professional fight in nearly 20 years.
Jake Paul
“First and foremost, Mike Tyson – it’s an honor to be able to fight him,” Paul said after the fight. “It was as tough and as hard as I thought it would be.”
Paul, who has an 11-1 record, said he could now fight anyone he wanted, possibly even Mexico’s Canelo Alvarez, after being the main attraction at the mega-event that brought a celebrity-studded crowd of 72,300 to the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
“This is the biggest event, over 120 million people on Netflix… We’ve broken the site, the biggest American boxing portal $20 million in US history, and everyone else is next on the list,” he added.
