EBN- South Korean prison authorities announced on Wednesday that resigned Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun attempted suicide after being imprisoned in the case of imposing martial law in the country.
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency said that Kim, who resigned as defense minister on Thursday, attempted suicide in prison before the judiciary officially issued an arrest warrant against him on charges of rebellion.
The former minister is accused of playing a “decisive role during the rebellion” and “abusing power to obstruct the exercise of rights.
The special investigation team conducted a search at the presidential office, the National Police Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and the National Assembly Security Department,” the police said in a statement.
