EBN- French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the prisoner exchange agreement and ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to respect it and ensure the full implementation of the agreement’s terms.
Macron also expressed his hope to ensure the implementation and adherence to the agreement.
Macron wrote on his account on the X platform: “After 15 months of unjustified ordeal, the people of Gaza felt great relief.
He added The agreement reached to cease fire in Gaza must be respected and a political solution must come.”
Egypt, Qatar and the United States announced in a joint statement that the two parties to the conflict in Gaza had reached an agreement to exchange prisoners and detainees and return to sustainable calm, thus achieving a permanent ceasefire between the two parties.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stressed, on Wednesday, the importance of speeding up the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, after the announcement of the agreement.
For his part, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on all parties to abide by their commitments and ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, explaining that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, calling on all parties to facilitate urgent and safe humanitarian relief without hindrance to civilians in need of assistance.
This comes on the 467th day of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which left more than 156,000 Palestinians dead and wounded , most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
