EBN- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that she rejected an offer from France and Britain to send an Italian military force to Ukraine as part of a European force.
Italy has expressed doubts about the proposal by France and Britain to send European soldiers. This is very difficult to implement and I am not sure it will be effective, which is why we said we would not send our soldiers to Kiev,” she told Rai 1 television on Monday evening.
“Everyone has the same goal of achieving a just and lasting peace in Kiev, so the central question is how to build peace that includes security guarantees for Kiev,” she added.
An informal summit of European leaders was held in London last Sunday to discuss the situation in Ukraine and collective European security, as well as to discuss a partial ceasefire in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the discussions taking place in Europe about sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine as “impudent,” considering them a continuation of Kiev’s incitement to continue the war against Russia, while Russia continues to warn the West against sending any forces to Ukraine under any name.
