EBN-Less than two weeks after movie star Gene Hackman was found dead in his home with his wife and dog, a new death has ignited social media and caused grief among Korean business fans, as South Korean singer Wheesung was found dead inside his home in Seoul at the age of 43.
Tragic death details
Wheesung’s mother was the first to alert emergency services on Monday, who found the 43-year-old singer unconscious. Authorities said an autopsy was ordered, but there were no signs of foul play and the cause of death has not been revealed.
His agency, Tagoe Entertainment, confirmed his death in a statement, saying, ” Wheesung has left us . He was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and has been pronounced dead.

Wheesung , whose real name is Choi Wheesung, was born on February 5, 1982 in Seoul, South Korea. He debuted in the industry in 1999 as a member of the four-member group A4. He released his first solo album, Like a Movie, in 2002 and quickly made a name for himself in the singing world, with his lead single, “Can’t You”, propelling him to instant chart success. His songs also included a cover of Craig David’s “Insomnia”, and he is credited with popularizing R&B music in South Korea.
Over the years, Wheesung has proven himself as a mentor and vocal coach for K-pop stars, even writing songs for some of them. He has collaborated with numerous artists and has also performed at K-pop concerts around the world, including in Hollywood.

In 2020, Wheesung was found unconscious on two occasions, along with syringes and vials containing a sleep-inducing drug.
In 2021, he was given a two-year suspended sentence for misusing the same drug that caused Michael Jackson’s death .
The artist had previously revealed that he had been diagnosed with chronic depression since 2005, along with panic disorder and insomnia.
Singing stars bid farewell to Wheesung
“ Wheesung , let’s sing and make music freely in that place. I will never forget your pure and clear heart,” singer Yoon Min-soo wrote in a social media post accompanied by a video of him and Wheesung performing a duet . “Let’s meet again one day and sing together,” he added.
Rapper Verbal Gent posted a black square photo on his Instagram account, along with the caption: “Every moment we shared was an honor, and I am grateful. You worked hard, rest in peace, Wheesung.
