SIR KEIR STARMER admitted he agreed with Boris Johnson’s stance on schools during a live interview on LBC.
During a live interview with LBC’s Nick Ferrari, the Labour Party leader faced a pre-recorded question from Mr Johnson regarding the safety of British schools. The Prime Minister called for Sir Keir Starmer to admit it was safe for children to return and that all children should be in school in September.
[contfnewc]Mr Johnson said: “Could you possibly just say once and for all that schools are safe to go back to and that the teaching unions should drop their opposition and allow every pupil to go back to school that can go back to school now?
“Every pupil should be back in school in September, no ifs, no buts, just say it!”
The Labour Party leader responded: “Yes schools are safe for some children to go back to at the moment.
“My own children are in school and I want all children back to school in September.
“I dont actually buy his argument that it is the trade unions that have caused the problem.
“What this needed was leadership from the top and a plan.
“Frankly, every school I have spoken to says it comes down to the space we have got.
“The day the schools were closed the Prime Minister should have set up a plan to get them back open.”
The UK was placed into lockdown and schools were closed in March to protect the NHS from being overwhelmed from the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
