Robert Lewandowski will not leave Munich this summer. He will stay for more seasons, or at least until his contract expires, said Herbert Hainer, President of the club.
The Polish superstar has been in fine form for two seasons. He has scored 294 goals in 329 appearances with the club since 2014. He holds an astonishing record in scoring 103 goals in just 87 games the last two seasons.
The 32-year-old won the Fifa’s award, the Best, for his unmatchable performance in the 2020 season. He immensely helped the Die Roten to achieve the historical Sextuple.
The golden boot winner last season is of interest to professional clubs. Chelsea and Man City both have a keen interest to reinforce their attacking squad with the Body. However, Bayern says otherwise, as the German club intends to sell the player, says Hainer.
“He still has two more years on his contract. He will play those with Bayern Munch. I said it already a few weeks ago,” said Hainer, “I could imagine him staying with us for even longer. He will honour his contract. He will play the next two seasons here in Bayern Munich.”
He added, “In my opinion, Lewandowski is the best striker in the world. We are so happy that we have him in our team.”
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga winner shows interest in Dortmund’s rising talent, Erling Haaland, to strengthen the squad. Also, he could be an ideal replacement for the Polish star.
Hainer stressed that the club would not be an official talk unless it is inevitable that Lewandowski will leave.
While Haaland’s release clause, €75m, becomes active next season, there will be cut-throat competition on his services.
Chelsea and Man City are also looking for Haaland. The Bules intend to pay €175m for the Norwegian. But the latter cracked it up, as he says, “I hope they are just rumours, as €175m would be a lot of money for one person.”
