The transport minister of England said on Wednesday, England will not quarantine fully vaccinated visitors from the EU and the US from next week.
England’s travel industry has criticized the government’s slow opening, saying it wasted time on the global vaccine distribution and lost many tourists to the EU.
Visitors having approved vaccines from the EU and the US will skip quarantine.
This would step up the profit in Britain’s top nine markets in terms of visitor volume before the pandemic.
The whole UK will likely follow Britain’s opening.
However, travellers still have to undergo a COVID-19 test before leaving, and after arriving in the UK, Minister of Transport Grant Shapps tweeted.
The opening will help airlines and travel agencies expand more in business after the 16-month limit that exposed them to many financial hardships.
British Airways (ICAG.L) shares rose 3%, EasyJet (EZJ.L) 4% and Wizz Air (WIZZ.L) 5%.
Fully vaccinated Britons returning to the UK from moderate-risk countries can also skip quarantine.
Although the frequent rule changes in the last two months indicate uncertainty, this will help the travel recovery process.
