Man City have been in contact with Cristiano Ronaldo to join the club before the transfer window closes, an Italian sports agency confirmed on Thursday.
Juventus see selling Ronaldo as a good chance, saving £500,000 weekly and earning a price before his contract expires. If Ronaldo’s contract expires, he will leave the Old Lady as a free agent.
Ronaldo has shown a willingness to leave the club lately, as he seems to be not happy at all. Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, has been in contact with various clubs to sign the Portuguese forward.
According to an Italian sports agency, Man City have a keen interest in signing the 36-year-old. But they are looking forward to signing him for free, which makes the chances grow thinner. City are ready to offer a salary of £12.8m per season for Ronaldo.
While no official talks took place yet, the Italian club wants £21.4m for Ronaldo—at least.
Man City are not in dire need to sign a new player, but Ronaldo would be an unmatchable addition to Pep Guardiola. However, if terms are not reached, Guardiola is happy with the City’s newcomers this season, such as Jack Grealish.
The Spanish manager thinks his squad is even mightier than ever. The club is looking to sign a forward after the Spurs’ forward Harry Kane made it clear he will stay.
Ronaldo: A new club soon
The Portuguese international has been stealing the spotlight of the football world with rumors about him leaving Juventus. Ronaldo, in turn, shut these rumors down with an Instagram post.
Nevertheless, rumors circulated, even more, linking him with other clubs, especially returning to Red Devils.
CR7 put in 292 appearances with Man United, scoring 118 goals in 6 years with the club.
While there are no official talks between Ronaldo and Juventus over leaving, the club expects the player to stay. Ronaldo would still be earning £31m per year after tax after all.
The only club interested seems to be Man City, financially and in terms of squad need. Also, Red Devils could enter the race, but PSG won’t be able financially after signing Leo Messi.
Yesterday, Ronaldo left the training session with a sudden injury and will miss Juventus’ next fixture. Reports say that he picked up an arm injury.
