London, Europe Brief News- Britney Spears is officially back in the music game.
In what will mark her first release since the end of her conservatorship and the remarkable #FreeBritney campaign, the singer has plans for a new tune with the Rocket man himself, Sir Elton John.
The new song, which was confirmed by spokespersons for each star on Monday, will be titled “Hold Me Closer” and is set to be a rendition of Elton John’s 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer.”
So far, that’s…about it when it comes to what we can expect. On Elton John’s Instagram, the singer only shared a photo of the track’s title, a rocket and a rose. Reportedly, the track is due to drop in the coming days.
This will mark yet another high profile collab for the icon. Last summer, he released “Cold, Cold Heart,” a collaboration with Dua Lipa, that featured a mashup of his hits “Rocket Man” and “Sacrifice.”
And in 2020, he teamed up with Lady Gaga for “Sine From Above.” (Of course, those songs all pile on top of decades of certified pop bangers.)
As for Spears, this will be her first new recording since 2016.
Since the release of Spears from the conservatorship, it was unclear whether she’d make music ever again. But now, a new era arrives—one where she is in charge.
