EBN- It seems that Elon Musk intends to compete with ChatGPT by launching an application that allows the use of a chatbot based on artificial intelligence technology that in turn reaches a large audience base. Elon Musk’s company xAI will undertake the task of launching the application to make it available to the public.
According to what was revealed by The Wall Street Journal last Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the new application of the company xAI, which is called a chatbot, could see the light of day in December, and if the statement is true, the launch of the new application confirms Musk’s path in competing with OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT.
Surprisingly, Elon Musk helped found OpenAI, but left the company in 2018, following disagreements with his partners. The American billionaire opened a new page with artificial intelligence by launching xAI.
Chatbot app competes with ChatGPT
Elon Musk opened the door to establishing a wholly owned AI services company called xAI last year, and immediately launched the company to offer several services such as AI customer support for Starlink and Grok, a chatbot available only to paid X subscribers.
The chatbot will reportedly be the company’s first direct-to-consumer app. Elon Musk’s xAI is valued at $50 billion, but xAI is less than OpenAI, which was last valued at $157 billion in its latest funding round in October. Competition between Musk’s company and its counterpart OpenAI is heating up, with experts predicting that xAI is on track to surpass $100 million annually, while OpenAI will reach $3.7 billion in revenue in 2024.
Elon Musk is the richest without a competitor
Earlier this year, specifically in April, the X platform imposed a fee on new users, amounting to one dollar per year, to access the platform’s basic features. It is noteworthy that in June 2023, Elon Musk caused controversy after he decided to change the name of the famous Twitter platform to X.
