London, Europe Brief News – Premier League Football club Chelsea FC will plead UK Government to ease sanctions on the club to save it from facing a massive financial crunch.
The Club can sense that they could just go bust in over a fortnight as Ministers are planning to sell the Club for 3 billion pounds without having permission from the owner Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea FC played a game last night against Norwich which is one of the weaker teams in the premier league. Chelsea won the match with a scoreline 3-1 but during the entire match, the crowd was chanting the name of Abramovich.
Thomas Tuchel, Manager of Chelsea club said after the match “ We can trust each other and this will not change. As long as we have enough shirts and a bust to drive to the games we will be there and will compete hard”.
But with its stars costing almost 28 million pounds a month in wages and the most recent accounts showing reserves of 16 million pounds, the club can expect to face a financial crisis within 17 days’ time as they are now banned from raising any funds from tickets or merchandise.
Sponsors Ended The deal
As the club starts to run out of money, Three Club sponsors have decided to end the deal with the club. These sponsors include Nike, Hyundai and Zapp.
Chris Philip, Technology Minister criticised some of the Chelsea fans for chanting the name of Roman Abramovich during the match to show their support for the owner of the club who was sanctioned by the government over his close links with the Putin Government.
He said in an interview “ I just say respectfully to the Chelsea fans, I know he has done a lot for the club, but the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and what the Russian regime is doing to civilians is more Important than Football”.
He further added, “ No proposal would be accepted which saw the money, the proceeds of any sale, ending up in an unrestricted bank owned by Abramovich. He can’t benefit from the proceeds of sale”.
The Club bosses are all set to meet with the Department of digital, culture, media and sports today. The ban on ticket sales is unfair and that can potentially lead the club towards financial decimation.
The club bosses are optimistic that they will be able to extract something positive out of this meeting for the club and its fans.
