London, Europe Brief News – The European Union (EU) Office in Palestine expressed deep concern about ‘Israel’s excessive use of lethal force against the Palestinians in the occupied territories.’
The statements came after a shocking footage shared online showed an Israeli soldier attacking a Palestinian man before pulling a gun and shooting him in Hawwara town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.
The Palestinian was hit in the upper body and fell to the ground before being left bleeding for long hours without medical assistance till his death.

Gravely concerned about the increasing level of violence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. In the last 72 hrs alone 10 Palestinians were killed by ISF in what appears to be an excessive use of lethal force, the EU office said.
According to international law, use of lethal force is strictly limited to situations in which there exists a serious and imminent threat to life and limb. Civilian casualties must be investigated and accountability ensured, it further added.
The EU also pointed out that 2022 is the deadliest year since 2006, with 140 Palestinians killed including 30 children.
The United Nations’ envoy to the region Tor Wennesland warned this week that the conflict and military occupation was “again reaching a boiling point”.
Campaigners from the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem are currently probing Mr Naasan’s death, saying that a significant number of cases of protesters being shot dead this year amount to “excessive use of force”.
