EBN- The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) sent twelve tons of medical and health supplies to Gaza on Monday, aid that will benefit about 600 families (3,000 people) and will enter from Jordan, according to the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, who headed to the cargo terminal at Madrid’s Barajas airport hours before the plane departed for Amman, stressed that “specific and decisive steps” must be taken to implement the two-state solution, with a “realistic and viable” Palestinian state that must of course include the enclave and the West Bank, in response to US President Donald Trump’s plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza.
In this regard, the minister responded in media statements to the decision announced by Donald Trump to buy and seize Gaza, saying, “Gaza is the land of the Palestinians in Gaza and the Palestinians must be in it,” calling for “alleviating” the massive humanitarian disaster in the Strip.
“This humanitarian aid aims to begin helping these Palestinians in Gaza to restore their normal lives in Gaza,” he said, stressing that cooperation is necessary to achieve “real reconstruction” of the Strip.
According to the minister, Spanish aid to the Strip has been arriving from the beginning through multilateral organizations funded by the government, and this new shipment sent today, Monday, will be collected by the Jordanian Red Crescent to be brought into the Strip.
He also highlighted the strong support of the Spanish people for official development assistance, with an approval rate of between 80 and 90%, according to opinion polls.
