EBN- In one of the craziest stories of the last day of the 2025 winter transfer window, German club Nuremberg bought Greek striker Stefanos Tzimas and then sold him hours later for double his market value.
Tzimas was on loan at German second division side Nuremberg this season, but hours before the winter transfer window closed the German club activated an option to buy the young Greek striker from PAOK for €18m.
Hours after completing the deal to sign him from PAOK, Nuremberg sold Tzimas to the English team Brighton for 25 million euros, noting that the market value of the Greek striker does not exceed 10 million euros, according to the website “Transfer Market”, which specializes in data on players and clubs.
This is a record transfer for a team in the German second division, according to the newspaper “Marca”.
What is noteworthy is that Tzimas will complete the current 2024-2025 season with Nuremberg on loan, after the German team concluded one of the best deals in the current transfer market.
“I am very happy that my dream of playing in the Premier League will come true this summer,” Tzimas said after signing for Brighton. “I would like to thank Nuremberg for the opportunity they have given me and the faith they have shown in me.”
“We have already said that he is a top player, but we could not have predicted how great his time here would be,” said Olaf Rebbe, Nuremberg’s sporting director.
It is worth noting that Tzimas scored ten goals and provided two assists in 18 matches he played with Nuremberg this season.
