The Haas F1 team has finished the contract of Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and its title sponsor Uralkali following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Mazepin was getting ready to participate in his second season in F1 for the team Haas.
The Team said, “ Haas F1 team has elected to terminate, with immediate effect, the title partnership of Uralkali, and the driver contract of Nikita Mazepin”.
The Team further added, “ As with the rest of the formula 1 community, the team is shocked and saddened by the invasion of Ukraine and wishes for a swift and peaceful end to the conflict”.
Mazepin shared a message on Social media saying “ I am disappointed with the decision”.
He said that I understand the difficulties and the ruling criteria from FIA but my request and willingness to accept conditions to continue was ignored by the authorities.
He further added in his message “To those who have tried to understand, my eternal thanks. I have treasured my time in F1 and genuinely hope we can all be together again in better times. I will have more to say in the coming days”.
On Tuesday, The FIA declared that they will allow Russian and Belarusian drivers to continue to race and compete with other drivers but in a neutral capacity and without showing any Russian or Belarusian symbol, colour, and flag on their uniform.
On Thursday F1 finished its contract with the Russian Grand Prix promoter which means Russia will no longer be able to stage future races.
Russians and Belarusians are out of Paralympics
After receiving threats of withdrawal and growing friction in the Athlete’s village, Organisers of the winter Paralympics reversed their policy to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes.
Earlier just like other sports organisations around the world, the International Paralympics committee declared that Russian and Belarusian athletes can compete but without using any symbol or colour of their nations. They can only participate as a neutral competitor.
US and western allies have imposed dozens of sanctions on Russia following its invasion of its neighbouring country Ukraine Starting to hurt Russian Sports athletes more. The Russian athletes are going through a tough period as Sports organisations are going hard on them.
