EBN-The La Liga Player of the Month shortlist for March of the 2024–2025 season has been revealed by the Spanish Professional Footballers’ Association (AFP).
In the Spanish League, Isco is once again in the spotlight. Five players—one each from Real Betis, Real Madrid, Valencia, Celta Vigo, and Rayo Vallecano—were on the shortlist. Along with Omar Sadiq, Marcos Alonso, and Pedro Diaz, Real Madrid’s Isco and Kylian Mbappé were also on the list. Voting has been opened for the public to choose the best player in La Liga for the month of March via the league’s official website.
Isco has been a revelation for Real Betis since leaving Real Madrid, appearing in 13 La Liga matches this season and contributing to nine goals (six goals and three assists).
Mbappe is absent from the French national team
Meanwhile, Frenchman Kylian Mbappé spoke about France’s match against Croatia, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals.
“It’s great to be back with the national team,” Kylian Mbappé said in a press conference. “I speak almost constantly with most of my teammates here. I spend vacation with some of them. My situation may not have been clear to outsiders, but it was always clear internally.”
The Real Madrid star added: “It was important to return to the national team, play, and score. Tomorrow’s match is important. The goal is to win.”
Real Madrid and France international Kylian Mbappé confirmed he will contact Modric to find out how he can win the Ballon d’Or, noting that his goal is to help his team.
The Real Madrid striker added: “It’s important to play well, score, and win. My goal is to help the team. My statistics aren’t what worries me. I’m not worried about my goal streak with France. What matters to me is winning the match and reaching the semi-finals with France.”
Regarding his France teammate, Ousmane Dembélé, Mbappé said: “I have always enjoyed playing with Ousmane. I have played with him for years. Given his current level, he is a very important player for us and for our goals. We will strive to prepare him in the best possible way so that he can perform as well as he did at his club. If Ousmane Dembélé is at the same level as he is at Paris Saint-Germain, we will win matches.”
Mbappé added: “I think Ousmane’s good performance on the wing gives us much more opportunities. I don’t know how we’ll play tomorrow, but if we analyze his current form, he’ll give us more attacking options. He’ll help us in attack. We know each other well, we want to play together, and it’ll be easy.”
Mbappé also spoke about the racism against Wesley Fofana, saying: “I saw it a quarter of an hour ago. It’s a shame. Unfortunately, we’ve reached rock bottom, and nothing will change. It’s difficult to say that we’ll return to square one in 2025. I spoke to him on the phone and told him that everyone here supports him. We are definitely with him. We support him.”
Regarding the duo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappé said: “They are two irreplaceable players. I am not trying to replace them or take their place.” He concluded his statements by talking about the Ballon d’Or, saying: “I will ask Modric how to win, and he will tell me.”
