As Covid-19 new wave spread across Europe, many governments took the initiative to
prevent new deaths. COVID-19 health pass measure will be the most effective solution to
stop the spread of the new contagious variants.
Health passes are digital or paper certificates that show if someone has received at least
one jab, has tested negative or has recently recovered from COVID-19.
Digital Health Pass is designed to enable businesses with an efficient way to verify health
credentials for employees, customers, fans and travelers entering their site based on their own criteria.
Although a majority say they support the system, thousands have rejected it, saying it is
an infringement of their basic rights.
Privacy is key. The digital wallet can allow individuals to maintain control of their personal
health information and determine what they share, with whom, and for what purpose.
WHO Raises Alarm Bells
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned of a new COVID wave across Europe as the
Delta coronavirus variant spreads through the region.
The number of new cases across Europe rose by 10 per cent last week, the UN health
agency’s regional director for Europe Hans Kluge said.
“This is taking place in the context of a rapidly evolving situation. A new variant of concern
– the Delta variant – and in a region where, despite tremendous efforts by member states, millions remain unvaccinated,” he added.
“There will be a new wave in the WHO European region unless we remain disciplined.”
The Delta variant is more transmissible than others and was first identified in India, but it
has spread rapidly in the UK.
However, Portugal was the first European Union nation to announce that the Delta variant
was now dominant on its territory.
According to the World Health Organization, it is “well on its way” to account for a majority
of worldwide cases of Covid-19.
