London, Europe Brief News – A London-based organization ImpACT International for human rights policies came forward to raise awareness about the important research which reveal the Racism in Sport in Europe.
ImpACT International organized a webinar to discuss the term discrimination in-depth and propose solutions to get rid of this prejudice.
Dr Carlos Gonzalez, Co-author of Research titled Mapping Discrimination in Europe was the guest speaker at the webinar. He has a wide range of expertise in sports economics, sports management and discrimination studies.
He said the sport should be a medium to bring people together at one platform and it can also be used as a source to evaluate the progress of one society.
He claimed that there is still some indisputable evidence present which shows Racism in Sport and people face a level of exclusion from amateur clubs in Europe mainly on the basis of their ethnicity.
Failure to tackle this issue will bring into question the proper functioning and cohesiveness of increasingly diverse European societies.
He also mentioned that if the term discrimination is eliminated from football, It’s highly likely that it will open up society to become more inclusive in nature. This way more and more people will get the opportunity to play sports and live a healthy life.
Such inequalities as they currently exist should be a major concern for both sports governing bodies and national governments in Europe.
Impact International has drawn a road map to get rid of discrimination and to inculcate the right culture in the sports fraternity.
- End Name discrimination
ImpACT International believe that the term discrimination needs to be eliminated for the good of all the people.
- Awareness Campaign against Racism in Sport
Professional sports clubs to fund awareness campaigns as the problem and teach the club coaches about the term Discrimination so they make sure it does not exist in their surroundings or within the club.
- Promoting ametuer sport
The business of football in general and professional football clubs should invest in websites that record and promote amateur clubs and their games. If the games at a lower level start to come to the notice, the foul play would not exist.
- Keep Fighting
Governments also have a role to play along with Professional sports clubs to monitor all the activities to make sure nobody breaks the protocols.
- Change
Businesses and governments need counselling sessions from ImpACT International to implement policies that decrease the chances of any mishap in the field of sport.
