Mariupol, Europe Brief News – Hundreds of people are crammed into the basement of a large public building in Mariupol city as the Russian forces Strike with continuous shelling and bombing.
The people in the basement reportedly ran out of the essentials like food and water with few even in a need of immediate medical help which they were highly unlikely to receive as the situation stands.
Russian forces have covered the city from several directions hitting the city with the constant bombing. The local authorities say the war has left at least 2,400 civilians dead but even they believe that this is an underestimate.
The people stuck in the basement spent most of their day hiding but from time to time they go upstairs to get sunlight and to check the amount of destruction the bombing has caused.
Mariupol City Run Out of Essentials
The majority ran out of the food supply and were concerned about when they would get any assistance from the government or Ukrainian Authorities.
President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video message saying “ They are bombing maripoul 24 hours a day, launching missiles. It is hatred. They kill children”.
The Ukrainian government said on Saturday that Russian forces are hitting on the port city of Mariupol with constant artillery bombing and shelling. Russian forces shelled a mosque that was sheltering more than 80 people including children.
There was no immediate word of casualties from the shelling of maripoul’s city mosque. The city of 446,000 people has experienced some of Ukraine’s worst misery since Russia invaded.
For ending hostilities, Putin has demanded that Ukraine should drop its bid to join NATOand need to adopt a neutral status. Putin has laid down all the demands in front of Ukrainian Officials and the European Union.
Ukraine Military has confirmed that Russian forces have captured Mariupol’s eastern outskirts and tightened the armed squeeze on the strategic port. Russia is aiming to build a land corridor from the Azov sea to Crimea for its advantage.
Zelensky pumped up its people to keep fighting for their freedom and their nation. He believes that if they keep resisting the way they are doing at the moment, they can frustrate the opposition which will leave the enemy with no choice but to exile.
Zelensky said in a message “ The fact that the whole Ukrainian people resist these invaders has already gone down in history, but we do not have the right to let up our defence, no matter how difficult it may be for us”.
