EBN- In a tragic accident, rap star Julio Folio was proclaimed dead yesterday, Sunday, June 23, 2024, just two days after celebrating his 26th birthday.
Lawyer Louis Foso said in a special statement that Folio, whose real name is Charles Jones, was staying at the Holiday Inn hotel in Tampa, Florida, in the United States of America, after he was “expelled” from an apartment rented through the Airbnb website where he was celebrating his birthday. He was subjected to an ambush that resulted in his death and the wounding of three of his friends.
The lawyer pointed out that before his death, the star shared pictures and videos on his Instagram account, specifically through the “Story” feature, showing him celebrating his birthday, and appeared by the pool with his friends and fans in an apartment rented on Airbnb.
Foso added that the party was widely promoted on social media, and it became very noisy, which prompted the police to stop the party and force Jones to leave, so he then moved to the hotel.
Police said that Jones and three other victims were in their cars in the parking lot when unknown assailants opened fire on them, killing Julio Folio and wounding his friends, who were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
Police also said that officials are reviewing the hotel’s surveillance cameras, and no suspects have been arrested yet.
Julio Folio had previously been subjected to an assassination attempt in 2021, when a bullet slightly hit him while he was in his recording studio in Jacksonville, but he later mocked his attackers on Instagram with a post about the subject.
