EBN- The French newspaper “Le Monde” published a long article in which it indicated that French President Emmanuel Macron created a “secret atmosphere” after the scandal of his predecessor, François Hollande.
Macron is ‘paranoid and mysterious;’ these are the words that those close to Macron use today to describe him,” Le Monde wrote.
“In 2014, Macron was in the front row when François Hollande was photographed on a motorbike on the Rue du Cirque in Paris, planning a secret meeting with actress Julie Gayet,” the newspaper added.
“As deputy secretary-general of the Elysée Palace, Emmanuel Macron was watching the ‘collapse’ from within. The lesson he learned was that François Hollande was not careful enough.”
Another event that reinforced Macron’s need to create an aura of secrecy around himself was the hacking of his team’s email addresses during the 2017 election campaign, according to the newspaper.
Since then, life at the Élysée Palace has become “more closed than ever,” according to sources quoted by the publication. Mindful of Hollande’s scandal, Macron avoids visiting private residences and usually restricts himself to familiar restaurants in the 6th, 7th, and 15th arrondissements of Paris. There, he always chooses a seat at the back of the room, facing the wall and surrounded by security.
