EBN- French President Emmanuel Macron called for respect for the Palestinians and their Arab neighbors, rejecting US President Donald Trump’s idea regarding Gaza, explaining that two million people cannot be told to leave immediately.
Amid the furor surrounding Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal, French President Emmanuel Macron explained in an interview with CNN at the Elysee Palace ahead of an AI summit: “You can’t say to two million people: ‘Well, now guess what? You’re going to move.’ You can’t say to two million people: ‘You’re going to move now.
Macron added: “I have always reiterated my disagreement with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. I do not believe, once again, that such a massive operation that sometimes targets civilians is the right solution.”
He explained that “the correct approach is not a real estate process, but a political process.”
“Any effective response to rebuilding Gaza does not automatically mean disrespect for people or countries,” Macron said, highlighting the Palestinians’ desire to remain in their homeland and Jordan and Egypt’s unwillingness to accept any proposal that would involve removing Palestinians from their lands.
France has declared its complete rejection of any plans to displace Palestinians, describing such a move as “a destabilizing issue in the Middle East.”
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi confirmed on Tuesday evening that there is an Arab, Egyptian, and Palestinian plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip without addressing the issue of displacing its residents.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement on Tuesday evening expressing Egypt’s intention to present a vision for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip that guarantees the survival of the Palestinian people on their land.
In a meeting at the White House with Jordanian King Abdullah II, Trump said: “I had a quick discussion with the Jordanian king now and later we will have longer discussions, and Washington provides a lot of money to Jordan and Egypt, but we will not issue threats about it.”
He added: “The Palestinians will live safely in a place other than Gaza, and I realize that we are able to reach a solution, and I believe 99% that we will be able to accomplish something with Egypt as well.”
For his part, Jordanian King Abdullah II said that the kingdom “will take 2,000 children from the Gaza Strip who suffer from diseases, including cancer, to his country ‘as soon as possible’,” which Trump described as “wonderful.”
Regarding the “Trump plan on Gaza,” the Jordanian monarch explained that the Arabs will provide a response to his proposal, noting that he intends to hold consultations in Saudi Arabia on the matter.
King Abdullah II stressed that “we have to wait to see a plan from Egypt regarding the Gaza Strip.
