French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit Ukraine after being engaged in a long meeting with Russian leader Putin.
The long meeting of 4-5 hours goes in vain as both the parties failed to pull off any significant breakthrough on the matter.
Macron is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the fear of Russian attack is mounting with each passing day.
Moscow has stationed over 100,000 troops close to the Ukrainian border. But, denying having any plans to attack Ukraine.
The Kremlin has requested NATO and USA to guarantee that NATO will not accept Ukraine and other former Soviet nations as a member.
And demanded to step back the forces from Eastern Europe but Both US and NATO rejected the demands.
Western leaders have been putting certain efforts to de-escalate the tension and stop Russia from attacking Ukraine as they find this Russian move to jeopardise their interests as well.
Macron had a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Monday. After the long meeting, both of the leaders show their concerns to have more talk to reach a conclusion.
Putin is aware of the fact that US and NATO have rejected Moscow’s demand but still seem willing to take part in the negotiations.
He believes that if Ukraine becomes a member of NATO that will only result In a war between Russia and the alliance.
Vladimir Putin said “If Ukraine becomes A NATO member and moves to reclaim Crimea, European countries will automatically be drawn into a military conflict with Russia”
Macron after a lengthy conversation with the Russian leader said that the coming few days will be critical and extensive discussion together will be required.
He added further that it’s now Europe’s responsibility to find an appropriate solution to reconstruct Positive neighbourly ties with Russia.
On the other side, German chancellor Olaf Scholz met with U.S president Biden in Washington before flying over to Moscow on Feb 14-15.
Biden swears that the Gas pipeline Nord stream 2 will be blocked completely to stop supply between Russia and Germany if Russia invades the Ukrainian border.
The move may hurt Russian economically but also cause supply issues for Germany.
Scholz warned Moscow by saying “a lot more could happen than they have perhaps calculated with themselves”
