EBN- More than 700 former and current McDonald’s employees in the UK have joined a workplace harassment lawsuit against the fast-food chain, law firm Leigh Day said.
More than 700 McDonald’s customers aged 19 or under who work at McDonald’s have asked law firm Leigh Day to file a lawsuit on their behalf. There are now 450 McDonald’s restaurants currently involved in similar lawsuits,” the company said in a statement.
The network’s employees complain that they have been subjected to discrimination and harassment in the course of their work, and have become victims of homophobia and racism, and Leigh Day will seek compensation for its clients.
The Wall Street Journal reported that fast-food chain McDonald’s said on Monday that it had scrapped its employee and supplier allocation and diversification goals, becoming the latest major company to overhaul its diversity, equity and allocation strategies.
“More than 30 percent of the company’s U.S. executives now come from underrepresented groups, while 25 percent of its spending goes to diverse suppliers,” the paper wrote, stressing that the company remains committed to diversification and has made great strides since committing to diversifying its goals.
