Kyiv, Europe Brief News – On peak on Russian invasion of Ukraine, Orchestra Gathered in front of a small crowd In Kyiv on Wednesday to play the Ukrainian National Anthem as Russian troops inched closer to the Capital.
The Kyiv-Classic Symphony Orchestra also performed a portion from Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” on which the European Union anthem is based.
The orchestra did this to show their inclination and desire to join the European Union and Keep Russia away from its territories.
A good number of the audience came up to watch the Orchestra playing on Central Maidan Square. Some were waving Ukrainian flags and chanting for peace.
The lyrics of the anthem include the lines, “Ukraine has not yet perished- Our enemies will vanish like dew in the sun”.
Tens of thousands of people are afraid of the Russian invasion and more than 2 million people have already fled the country to other neighbouring countries.
2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine:
Russian troops have bore down on Kyiv with heavy gunfires and explosions reaching ever close to the Country’s capital. The Russian invasion has created chances for a wider war in Europe that have severe consequences.
Civilians have started to join local defence units to assist Ukrainian forces to defend the capital. On the other hand, Civilians are on the road protesting against the Russian forces in already captured cities.
Russia launched the invasion on Feb24 calling it a Special Military Operation to protect the people of Separtiritst regions and to destroy Ukrainian military capabilities. Russia said its main aim is to overthrow the government of Ukraine.
Ukraine and its allies have accused Russia of an unprovoked and unjustified attack that saw thousands of civilian casualties and more than 2 million to flee the country.
Kyiv has mostly been spared the heavy shelling that devastated parts of other urban centres including Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy but the Ukrainian army is bolstering defences in anticipation of a full assault.
The US and Western allies have imposed dozens of sanctions on Russia to cripple its economy which can also be dangerous for the world economy as economies had just started to rebound from Covid-19 restrictions.
The US and UK have recently Imposed a ban on Russian Oil to demoralise Putin to stop the invasion. The European Union has also announced that it is looking for measures to decrease its reliance on Russian energy.
This move can hit Russia hard and where it matters the most. Russian currency is already in Free falling mode and has hit its record low of all time.
