New York, Europe Brief News – The much-awaited Oscar nominations for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday.
The Oscar nominations will be livestreamed globally at 5:18 a.m. Pacific time (6:48 pm in India).
Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross and actor-comedian Leslie Jordan will co-host the presentation, announcing the 2022 nominees across all 23 Academy Award categories.
The Power of the Dog, Belfast and West Side Story are among the films to pick up multiple nominations.
British acting nominees could include Andrew Garfield, Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman and Ciarán Hinds.
The nominations will also be carried on national broadcast and streaming news programs, including ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ and ABC News Live, reported the LA Times.
The 94th Oscars will be held in Los Angeles March 27 at the Dolby Theatre and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for February 27 but was postponed due to the Omicron surge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The awards are usually held in late February or early March. In 2020, the Oscars were held in early February, in an unusual attempt to shake up the lengthy, expensive campaigns, akin to political campaigns, that most studios run for the films they hope will win awards.
However, in June 2020, with no end to the pandemic in sight and theaters closed across the country, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took a gamble and postponed the 2021 ceremony, pushing it back two months, from February to April.
