Kyiv, Europe Brief News – Fourth round of Peace Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine were held today in which Kyiv demanded a ceasefire and immediate withdrawal of the troops even after Russia shelled several residential buildings in Kyiv.
Both the countries are optimistic that they will be able to produce something positive for the people of both countries from this round of peace talks as previous peace talks failed to extract anything substantial.
Russia denies targeting civilians by saying Moscow is conducting a Special military operation that aims to only denazify and demilitarise Ukraine. Ukraine and Western Allies call this a baseless pretext for a war of choice.
The Russian Defence Ministry claimed that Ukrainian firefighters killed at least 20 people and left 28 injured by hitting missiles in the capital of the eastern Donetsk region. The Russian Defence Ministry did not provide any evidence to support their claim.
Leonid Matukhin, Ukrainian Military spokesperson said “ It is unmistakably a Russian rocket or another munition”. Ukraine and its allies warned before that Russia may attack its own side to create pretexts for a further offensive against Ukraine.
Rising Death Toll Amid Peace Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine:
The UN Human Rights Monitor has said that its monitors in Ukraine have confirmed that there are at least 636 civilian casualties since the beginning of the Russian Invasion.
The Human rights monitor has also mentioned that the actual death count could be higher than what data suggests as there have been delays receiving reports due to heavy shelling in areas like Kharkiv and Mariupol.
Mykhailo Podolyak, Ukrainian Negotiator said that Russia was beginning to talk constructively over negotiation and 4th round of peace talks demand immediate withdrawal and security guarantees from Russian Officials.
He later said that discussions between both parties were pretty hard as both the countries have an apparently different political system.
As Russia is pounding hard on Ukraine, more than 2.5 million residents have fled the country in the fear of being captured.
Investor Fears Ease
Global Financial markets, which had been riven by fears that the conflict could drag in NATO rallied on hopes for peace talks. Stocks experience a high jump in the global market while oil prices lose some of their previous gains.
According to several US officials, Russia has asked China to provide them with some military equipment while Moscow denied this and accused Washington of propagating disinformation.
