According to sources from the club on Friday, Manchester United have signed Dortmund’s Sancho on a five-year contract with an additional 12-month option.
The BVB stated lately this month that the deal is €85 million. The English club also confirmed they initially agreed to the deal, and the player undergoes a medical check after the national team finishes the journey in Euro 2020.
“The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true, and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League. This is a young and exciting squad, and I know, together, we can develop into something special to bring the success that the fans deserve,” the 21-year player stated.
The 18-moth negotiation journey finally comes to an end, as the deal between both clubs has been arranged.
It is not the first time for United to look after Sancho, as they attempted to sign him last summer, but the German club offered a high fee, £108m. The Red Devils finally reached an agreement, as Dortmund dropped the fee after two failed bids.
Sancho and his new teammate, Rashford, failed to score in the final penalty shootout against the Azzurri, as the latter lifted the Euro 2020 cup.
It is reported that Man City, the previous club for Sancho, will earn 15% of the deal from Dortmund.
Sancho secured a place in the Bundesliga team of the season in two consecutive seasons, 2019 and 2020. The English player finishes his four-year journey with the BVB with 50 goals in 137 appearances.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Dortmund, said he wanted to keep the Jadon for another season, but the latter wished to wear Red Jersey, stating, “It was the exemplary wish of Jadon.”
“We would have liked to keep him,” said the CEO, “We reached a general agreement with Manchester United on the transfer of Jadon Sancho, pending full completion, as there are still some formalities to agree on and the medical check to be completed.”
