Old Lady Manager, Massimiliano Allegri confirmed placing Cristiano Ronaldo was his—and only his—decision, said Italian sports agency today.
After Juventus fixture against Udinese, Allegri announced that placing the CR7 on the bench was not Ronaldo’s as some reports suggested.
Just yesterday, international news agencies suggested that Ronaldo is the one who asked to join the bench. And he did so, as he wants to leave Juventus before the summer transfer window closes.
As he calmed things about the rumors about Ronaldo leaving, Allegri did the same concerning the bench story. It was not a surprise that all questions were about that story.
“Ronaldo is feeling well. I had talked to him before the game, telling him he would start on the bench,” said Allegri, “He made himself available, he did well when he entered the pitch.”
Juventus’s vice president, Pavel Nedved, also commented on the story. He insisted that Ronaldo was and still is happy with the Old Lady.
“We mustn’t try to create sensational stories where there aren’t any,” said Nedved, “It was a decision shared with the player. At the start of the season, naturally, he is not at top fitness. The coach is trying to use the best lineup at this moment.”
‘Ronaldo will remain’
While rumors circulate about Ronaldo leaving, the club officials and the coaching staff keep assuring that he will stay.
“I can absolutely confirm Ronaldo will remain at Juventus this season,” added Nedved.
Although officials confirmed Ronaldo will stay, rumors will circulate even more. Rumors will keep swirling, as they have been contradicting.
It is worth mentioning that CR7 still has 12 months in his contract with the Old Lady.
What backing off the move of Ronaldo is that big clubs dropped off their interests. For example, Real Madrid’s coach confirmed that they are not interested. On the other hand, PSG will not risk signing Ronaldo, and better, they are not able to, as they signed Messi lately. The club will not be able to afford their salaries together.
